How Bright Steps works
The Bright Steps Behavior GPS Sequence
Anyone can hand you a tip. Tips fail at 7pm because they are given out of order. Bright Steps runs the same six turns every time — the grown-up first, the clue second, the need third. Turns 1 to 3 are free forever. Turns 4 to 6 are the Behavior Struggle Map.
- 1Turn 1Free forever
Calm the grown-up first
What you do: Play the 60-second Stop the Yelling script and say the words out loud.
Why here: A parent cannot run any plan while their own body is yelling. Everyone else starts at the child. We start at you.

Spot the clue
What you do: Write down what happened right before, during, and after — one line each.
Why here: Behavior is never random. The clue lives in the 10 minutes before the blow-up, not in the blow-up.

Decode what the behavior is asking for
What you do: Answer 3 questions and get the need behind tonight's hardest moment.
Why here: Same behavior, four different needs. Skip this and you use the right tool on the wrong problem.

Run the matched script
What you do: Use the exact words written for that need, that age, and that moment.
Why here: Generic advice fails at 7pm. The script has to match the decoded need or the child hears one more lecture.

Practice it — I Do / We Do / You Do
What you do: Model it, try it together, then let your child do it alone.
Why here: A script used once is a moment. A script practiced three ways becomes a skill your child keeps.

Document it and hand it over
What you do: Turn the log into a plan the school, sitter, and grandparents can follow.
Why here: This is the step no one else has. Without paper, the school guesses. With paper, they help.
