Day 12 — The Socks Felt Wrong
Worn out tonight? This one's for the caregiver who needs a little hope.
A kind word for tonight
The socks had tiny seams inside; the shirt did not feel right. We changed the outfit three more times and still got in a fight. What looked like stubborn refusing may have been discomfort there. A softer choice tomorrow could show that we really care.
Before we stress, let's assess
Before we stress, let's assess. Sensory discomfort is worth investigating instead of dismissing.
Step 1. Tonight’s reset
STOP: pause.
BREATHE: slow it down.
SAY WHAT THEY NEED: "Let's find clothes that feel better."
Step 2. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
I DO: model it.
WE DO: practice together.
YOU DO: try with support.
Step 3. One small action
Offer two comfortable clothing options before school.
Tomorrow, we can practice again. Spot the clue. Know what to do. We made it through the day.
