Day 2 — I Yelled And I Can Repair
Before you call today a failure, I want you to hear this.
A kind word for tonight
I wanted to be patient, but the words came out too loud. I felt the heat of anger rising like a thundercloud. The moment didn't go the way I wanted it to go. But making things right afterward is one more skill to show.
Before we stress, let's assess
Before we stress, let's assess. Children can learn from an honest repair, not from adults pretending they're perfect.
Step 1. Tonight’s reset
STOP: pause.
BREATHE: slow it down.
SAY WHAT THEY NEED: "I'm sorry I yelled. I will use a calmer voice."
Step 2. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
I DO: model it.
WE DO: practice together.
YOU DO: try with support.
Step 3. One small action
Practice your apology without blaming your child.
Tomorrow, we can practice again. Spot the clue. Know what to do. We made it through the day.
