Day 18 — Bedtime Was Another Battle
Before you call today a failure, I want you to hear this.
A kind word for tonight
I tucked them in, I kissed goodnight, I turned and closed the door. Then little feet came down the hall to find me once more. I was so ready for the quiet, ready for my bed. A calmer, steady routine could make tomorrow softer instead.
Before we stress, let's assess
Before we stress, let's assess. Repeated getting up may reflect a need for connection, support or routine.
Step 1. Tonight’s reset
STOP: pause.
BREATHE: slow it down.
SAY WHAT THEY NEED: "It's bedtime. I'll check on you soon."
Step 2. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
I DO: model it.
WE DO: practice together.
YOU DO: try with support.
Step 3. One small action
Plan the same three bedtime steps for tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we can practice again. Spot the clue. Know what to do. We made it through the day.
