Caregiver Motivation
I Don’t Have Any Patience Left
Some days you’re not starting with a full patience tank.
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
Some days you’re not starting with a full patience tank.
You’re starting on EMPTY.
You already answered a hundred questions.
Made a hundred decisions.
Solved everybody’s problems.
Then somebody asks one tiny thing…
and it feels HUGE.
Step 2. Behavior clues
Colossians 3:12 KJV tells us to put on:
“kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering.”
But here’s something important:
Sometimes what feels like “I need more patience”
is really:
“I need less on me.”
Step 3. Watch before you react
- CHECK
What’s draining you the most today?
- CUT
Remove one unnecessary demand.
- CREATE
Give yourself a short recovery moment between hard parts of the day.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Pause before you react.
BREATHE — One slow breath. Count to five.
SAY — “I’m going to take a minute, then try again.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: model “Check” out loud so your family can see it.
- We Do — Practice “Cut” together in a calm moment.
- You Do — Try “Create” on your own today. Notice what changes.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, practice: Check.
- Today, practice: Cut.
- Today, practice: Create.
Caregiver…
Maybe you don’t need to become some magically patient person.
Maybe you need fewer things stacked on an exhausted system.
Reduce the load.
Then respond.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
