Caregiver Motivation
I Keep Starting And Stopping
You ever get excited about a new routine?
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
You ever get excited about a new routine?
Monday comes.
You’re ready.
New plan.
New schedule.
New attitude.
Then Wednesday happens.
Somebody gets sick.
Work gets busy.
You get tired.
And the whole routine disappears.
Then you think:
“See? I can never stay consistent.”
Step 2. Behavior clues
Proverbs 24:16 KJV says:
“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.”
Read that again.
It doesn’t say he never falls.
It says he gets back up.
Step 3. Watch before you react
- SHRINK IT
Build a version of your routine that works on hard days.
- RESTART IT
Missed yesterday?
Restart today.
No punishment required.
- REPEAT IT
Stop chasing perfect streaks.
Practice returning.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Pause before you react.
BREATHE — One slow breath. Count to five.
SAY — “I’m going to take a minute, then try again.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: model “Shrink It” out loud so your family can see it.
- We Do — Practice “Restart It” together in a calm moment.
- You Do — Try “Repeat It” on your own today. Notice what changes.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, practice: Shrink It.
- Today, practice: Restart It.
- Today, practice: Repeat It.
Caregiver…
Consistency doesn’t mean:
“I never stopped.”
Sometimes consistency means:
“Every time life knocked me off, I learned how to come back.”
Get back up.
Start again.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
