Caregiver Motivation
I’m Tired Of Advocating
You ever get tired of explaining your child?
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
You ever get tired of explaining your child?
Another email.
Another meeting.
Another phone call.
Another form.
Another time saying:
“This is what my child needs.”
And sometimes you wonder:
“Why do I have to keep fighting for people to understand?”
Step 2. Behavior clues
Proverbs 31:8 KJV says:
“Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”
The language is old, but the message is powerful:
Use your voice for someone who needs support speaking up for themselves.
But advocating doesn’t mean exhausting yourself in every conversation.
Step 3. Watch before you react
- WRITE THE FACTS
What happened?
When?
How often?
What support was tried?
- MAKE ONE CLEAR ASK
Instead of ten issues at once, say:
“Here is the concern I need addressed.”
- DOCUMENT IT
Keep the email.
Keep the notes.
Keep the dates.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Pause before you react.
BREATHE — One slow breath. Count to five.
SAY — “I’m going to take a minute, then try again.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: model “Write The Facts” out loud so your family can see it.
- We Do — Practice “Make One Clear Ask” together in a calm moment.
- You Do — Try “Document It” on your own today. Notice what changes.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, practice: Write The Facts.
- Today, practice: Make One Clear Ask.
- Today, practice: Document It.
Caregiver…
Your voice matters.
But your energy matters too.
Advocate with facts.
Advocate with focus.
And remember:
You don’t have to scream to make your concern serious.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
