Caregiver Motivation
My House Feels Out Of Control
You clean one room…
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
You clean one room…
and somehow another room explodes.
Shoes everywhere.
Backpacks on the floor.
Papers on the table.
Somebody can’t find anything.
The TV is loud.
Everybody’s talking.
And you’re standing there thinking:
“Where do I even START?”
Step 2. Behavior clues
1 Corinthians 14:40 KJV says:
“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
But order doesn’t have to mean perfection.
Sometimes order simply means:
Everybody knows where the backpack goes.
Step 3. Watch before you react
- PICK ONE ZONE
Not the whole house.
Pick one trouble spot.
- GIVE THINGS A HOME
Shoes here.
Backpacks here.
School papers here.
- MAKE IT EASY
The system should be simple enough to use when everybody is tired.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Pause before you react.
BREATHE — One slow breath. Count to five.
SAY — “I’m going to take a minute, then try again.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: model “Pick One Zone” out loud so your family can see it.
- We Do — Practice “Give Things A Home” together in a calm moment.
- You Do — Try “Make It Easy” on your own today. Notice what changes.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, practice: Pick One Zone.
- Today, practice: Give Things A Home.
- Today, practice: Make It Easy.
Caregiver…
You don’t need a picture-perfect house.
You need a house that works for the people living in it.
Don’t clean the whole world today.
Create one little place of order.
Then build from there.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
