Lesson 3 — My face gets hot
Sometimes my cheeks get hot like the sun. That's my body sending a clue.

- SPOT THE CLUE
- STOP
- BREATHE
- SAY WHAT I NEED
Clue: My face gets hot.
That's my clue! I know what to do!
Stop.
Breathe.
Say what I need.
What do I do?
STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT I NEED
1. STOP
- Stop my body.
2. BREATHE
- Take a slow breath in.
- Let a slow breath out.
3. SAY WHAT I NEED
- “I need a break.”
- “I need help.”
- “I need some space.”
- “I'm getting mad.”
Practice it
Put a cool hand on your cheek. Then do the three steps.
For the grown-up
Step 1: Touch your own cheek and name it. Step 2: Breathe together. Step 3: Let your child pick their words.
I'm learning to spot the clues, so I can know what to do, to regulate and be cool, even when I go to school!
