Week 1
Name the Storm
Stop blaming yourself. Start naming what you're in.
Essential question
What season am I actually in as a parent right now — and what one behavior is hardest?
Learning objectives
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- Identify your current stage on the Transformation Journey (Overwhelmed → Advocating).
- Name ONE specific behavior that is hardest in your home right now.
- Write one sentence that replaces self-blame with self-witnessing.
Key vocabulary
- Dysregulation
- When the nervous system (yours or your child's) is too flooded to think clearly. Looks like meltdowns, shutting down, or snapping.
- Stage
- Where you are on the parent journey today — not forever. Naming it gives you a map out.
- Behavior is communication
- Every behavior is your child telling you about a need they can't put into words yet.
I Do · Watch · 12 min
I model what it looks like to stop the self-blame spiral and put a name on the season you're in.
Lesson script beats
- Open: 'If you're watching this in the bathroom because it's the only quiet room — I see you.'
- Name the 6 stages out loud (Overwhelmed → Understood → Supported → Confident → Consistent → Advocating).
- Model picking YOUR stage on camera. Be honest: 'Today I'm in Overwhelmed and that's okay.'
- Model the one-sentence reframe: 'I'm not failing. I'm in a hard season — and I'm not alone.'
- Close with the I Do / We Do / You Do recap and the disclaimer.
We Do · Live Q&A or Skool thread
"We pick our stage together in the chat. One word + one emoji. No advice yet — just witness each other."
