Caregiver Motivation
I Don’t Feel Motivated
Caregiver… What happens when you know what needs to be done… but you don’t feel like doing anything?
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
What happens when you know what needs to be done…
but you don’t feel like doing anything?
You’re tired.
Your mind feels heavy.
And motivation?
She didn’t show up today.
Step 2. Behavior clues
Zechariah 4:10 KJV says:
“For who hath despised the day of small things?”
Don’t overlook the small beginning.
You don’t need enough motivation for the entire day.
You need enough movement for the next five minutes.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
- SHRINK IT
Make the task smaller.
Don’t say:
“I need to clean everything.”
Say:
“I’m clearing this table.”
- START IT
Give yourself five minutes.
That’s it.
- COUNT IT
When you finish something small—
let it count.
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: Shrink It out loud so they can see you do it.
- We Do — Practice Start It together on a calm day.
- You Do — Try Count It on your own today, one small time.
Step 6. Try this tonight
Caregiver…
Sometimes motivation comes after movement.
Start small.
Start tired.
Start unsure.
But start with what you have.
Because small things can still grow into big change.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
