Caregiver Motivation
I Feel Like I’ll Never Catch Up
Every time you finish one thing…
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
Every time you finish one thing…
three more things show up.
You answer one email.
Another comes.
Wash one load.
There’s another.
Handle one problem.
Here comes the next.
And eventually you start thinking:
“I am NEVER going to catch up.”
Step 2. Behavior clues
Philippians 4:6 KJV says:
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
You don’t have to carry every unfinished thing in your head at the same time.
Step 3. Watch before you react
- EMPTY IT
Write down what’s circling in your mind.
Get it out of your head.
- PICK IT
Choose one thing that actually matters today.
- CLOSE IT
Finish one loop before opening another.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Pause before you react.
BREATHE — One slow breath. Count to five.
SAY — “I’m going to take a minute, then try again.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Show it first: model “Empty It” out loud so your family can see it.
- We Do — Practice “Pick It” together in a calm moment.
- You Do — Try “Close It” on your own today. Notice what changes.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, practice: Empty It.
- Today, practice: Pick It.
- Today, practice: Close It.
Caregiver…
Maybe the goal isn’t to finally have nothing left to do.
Because life will probably keep giving you something.
Maybe the goal is learning:
“I don’t have to do everything at once.”
One thing finished.
One burden released.
One step forward.
That’s progress too.
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
Spot the clue. Know what to do.
