Caregiver Motivation
I Feel Like I’m Doing This Alone
Surrounded by people and still carrying everything alone? You’re allowed to need somebody too.
Step 1. What's happening
Caregiver…
Have you ever been surrounded by people…
and still felt like you were carrying everything alone?
You’re remembering the appointments.
Talking to the teachers.
Watching the behavior.
Managing the routines.
Solving the problems.
And everybody assumes:
“She got it.”
Step 2. Behavior clues
But Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 KJV says:
“Two are better than one… For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.”
Caregiver, you’re allowed to need somebody too.
Step 3. Watch before you react
- NAME IT
Don’t just say:
“I need help.”
Name what would actually help.
- ASK
Try:
“Can you handle dinner tonight?”
“Can you make this call?”
“Can you sit with them for twenty minutes?”
- RECEIVE
If somebody helps—
let them.
You don’t have to take everything back because they didn’t do it exactly like you.
Step 4. STOP → BREATHE → SAY WHAT THEY NEED
STOP — Stop assuming you have to carry it all.
BREATHE — Take one slow breath before you answer the next request.
SAY — “I’m allowed to need somebody too.”
Step 5. I DO → WE DO → YOU DO
- I Do — Let them see you ask for help out loud. “Can you handle dinner tonight?” You are showing them asking is strong.
- We Do — Pick one small job to share today. Do it side by side.
- You Do — Later, ask them: “What’s one thing you could help with this week?” Let them choose it.
Step 6. Try this tonight
- Today, name one specific thing that would actually help. Write it down.
- Ask one person for that one thing. Be specific.
- When help comes, let it stand. Don’t redo it.
You weren’t meant to prove your strength by carrying everything alone.
Sometimes strength sounds like:
“I need help with this.”
💜 Before we stress, let’s assess.
